Accessibility
Near Me Orlando is built so everyone can find places to eat, things to do and local businesses, including people who are blind or have low vision, people who navigate by keyboard, switch or voice, and people with hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most U.S. accessibility laws and guidance point to. We test pages with automated checkers and by hand with a keyboard, a screen reader and browser zoom.
What we've built in
- Works with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack: every page has one main heading, labeled navigation, and a Skip to content link.
- Every button and link says where it goes, including the business name, and links that open a new tab say so.
- Text and buttons meet AA color contrast, and nothing relies on color alone.
- You can zoom to 200% or more, or enlarge text in your browser or phone settings, without losing content or scrolling sideways.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a clear focus outline showing where you are.
- Buttons are large enough to tap easily.
- The homepage typing effect stops on its own and pauses when you hover over or tap it, and all animations turn off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- The site follows your device's high contrast or forced colors setting.
- Phone numbers are tap-to-call, and every listing links to directions.
Accessibility of the places we list
We list a place's accessibility features, like wheelchair-accessible or paved trails, when its official website states them. Features change, so call the business or venue before you go if you need step-free access, accessible parking, seating, sensory accommodations or service-animal details. Theme parks and large venues publish their own disability access guides on their websites.
Third-party content
Our business listing form is provided by our customer relationship platform, and maps open in Google Maps. We choose accessible options where we can, but we don't control those services.
Report a problem
If anything on this site is hard to use with your setup, email hello@nearmeorlando.com with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days, and we can provide information in another format on request.
